About Us

Mission Statement: "To promote the sport of figure skating at the local, national, and international levels."

The purposes of the Roseville Figure Skating Club (RFSC) is to advance and promote figure skating;  to foster national and international amateur figure skating competitions; to support the skaters' progression through USFSA test levels; and to support the needs of its members as they seek to advance in the sport.

The Roseville Figure Skating Club is dedicated to helping its skaters work their way up the ladder of testing and competition. Skaters may choose the level to which they wish to aspire. Some skaters may test often and compete regularly. Others may choose a more leisurely pace. And some may test but never compete. The decision rests with each skater. Whatever the decision, each skater is a valued member of the Club.

To support the needs of our members, the RFSC offers many benefits.  The Club attracts coaches who offer both private lessons and classes structured to a specific skill-set.  It provides practice ice, clinics, USFSA test sessions, exhibitions, a club-sponsored competition, and an awards banquet.  The Club also offers a synchronized skating program.

The RFSC was organized in the Fall of 1974 and is affiliated with the United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA). On May 6, 1977, the Club was made a full member of the USFSA. Starting with an initial enrollment of 25. The Club is a non-profit corporation, organized under the laws of Minnesota and exempt from certain taxes under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Club is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board appoints various committees and their chairpersons to carry out the Club's programs.

Our home rink is the Roseville Ice Arena which is also home of the Roseville Figure Skating School.

While the RFSC enjoys a rich, cooperative, relationship with the Roseville Figure Skating School, we are distinct organizations.  The RFSC is a member of, and operates under the auspices of, the USFSA.  The Roseville Figure Skating School provides instruction and testing in accordance with the Ice Skating Institute (ISI).  USFSA and ISI are distinct and different organizations.  Traditionally, the USFSA is considered to be more competition oriented.  The path to the Olympics is through the USFSA.  ISI is traditionally considered to be more recreational-based.  In practice, there are many areas of overlap between the two organizations.

The RFSC is unique among clubs in the Twin Cities in our cooperation with the ISI-based Roseville Figure Skating School.  Most club members participate in both organizations and benefit as members of both USFSA and ISI.  Club coaches are trained in ISI testing and often coach with the school as well.  Should skaters choose a more ISI-centric path, the club offers the private lessons and the ice time necessary to achieve the skills required to pass the higher ISI test levels.

Every April, the city of Roseville sponsors the Roseville Ice Show, which is produced by the Skating School.  The RFSC is a proud partner with the city in this production.  Our membership includes many dedicated volunteers who willingly support and promote both club events and the city's ice show.  The show showcases Skate School classes, RFSC programs, and celebrates skaters who have made the Roseville Ice Arena their home for both their ISI and their USFSA training.  Our membership is proud to help the City of Roseville sponsor one of Minnesota's best shows on ice.
